UK-Favourite Maki & Ramen Brings Its Iconic Ramen And Rolls To Dubai

Dubai has a new Japanese favourite to get excited about this February, as Maki and Ramen officially makes its Middle East debut. One of the UK’s most-loved Japanese dining brands, it’s bringing its award-winning ramen bowls, freshly prepared sushi and bold flavours to the city, all driven by a simple belief – expertly crafted Japanese food should be accessible to everyone.

The Dubai menu brings Maki and Ramen’s signature dishes to life through traditional Japanese techniques and bold, flavour-led recipes. Highlights include the fan-favourite Tan Tan Men, with a sesame-infused broth topped with diced beef, chilli oil, spring onions and a freshly marinated egg, alongside the Salmon Teriyaki Roll for the perfect sweet-and-savoury bite. For something heartier, the Chicken Katsu Curry delivers a crisp golden cutlet served over fluffy rice and finished with a rich Japanese curry sauce. Exclusive to Dubai, Maki and Ramen will also introduce a dedicated selection of indulgent hand rolls, freshly rolled to order, including a Spicy Tuna Hand Roll created especially for diners who like an extra kick.

Located at Mövenpick Hotel Jumeirah Village Triangle, the restaurant spans 300 square metres and seats 80 guests. The interiors blend subtle Japanese design influences with sakura-inspired details, creating a space that feels relaxed yet refined. Open Tuesday to Sunday from 12:00pm to 11:00pm, Maki and Ramen is designed for every occasion, from casual lunch catch-ups to after-work dinners and celebratory moments in between.

“From the very beginning, Maki & Ramen has been about making good food that everyone can enjoy,” said Teddy Lee, Founder of Maki & Ramen.“Dubai’s global community and vibrant food culture made it a natural place for us to grow. It’s a city built on diversity, and we’re excited to bring the same welcoming, everyday dining experience to people from all walks of life here.”

Founded in Edinburgh by award-winning chef and entrepreneur Teddy Lee, Maki and Ramen has grown from a single neighbourhood eatery into a nationwide favourite, now operating 18 restaurants across the UK, with a further eight openings planned for early 2026. A new flagship in Soho, London, is also set to open later this year, reinforcing the brand’s position as one of the UK’s fastest-growing Japanese dining groups.

With accolades including Deliveroo Restaurant of the Year (2022–2025) and recognition as one of The Times Top 100 Fastest-Growing Companies, Maki and Ramen enters the Dubai market with a strong international reputation and a clear ambition: to become a go-to destination for accessible Japanese food in Dubai, combining authenticity, consistency, and approachability.
