Avli by tashas introduces a refined new menu, rooted in the essence of Athenian tradition and thoughtfully redefined for Dubai’s F&B scene. Curated by Head Chef Vlassia Anagnostou, the menu celebrates the simplicity of Greek cooking, highlighting flavour and quality.
Sparked by a trip to Athens in 2024, Natasha Sideris, Jill Okkers and Vlassia Anagnostou explored both the city’s latest restaurants and the timeless streetside tavernas that continue to shape Greek food culture. Seasonality and authenticity remain central, with inspiration drawn from the vibrant produce and traditional techniques that have been passed down through generations.
The new menu features over 14 redefined dishes, with a strong emphasis on the From the Sea selection, highlighting the diversity of seafood now available in the region. Cold meze displays now feature Nodini paired with house-made Eliopsomo – an olive and herb rustic bread crafted from the hands and recipe of Chef Vlassia’s grandmother. The raw meze introduces dishes such as Red Snapper and Tuna Carpaccio, while hot selections include Kalamaraki Tigania and delicate Scallops, paired with baby spinach sautéed in lemon butter and enriched with a tomato reduction.
Among the highlights, the Lamb Tigania stands out as a celebration of village-style cooking. Marinated for 24 hours, seared to perfection, and served with a side of slow-baked lemon potatoes, the dish reflects the soulful, unrushed approach to food that defines traditional Greek dining.
While the menu brings fresh energy to Avli, beloved classics remain untouched, with signature dishes including the Aubergine Mille-Feuille, Lamb Youvetsi, and Feta Saganaki continuing to anchor the dining experience. Striking this balance between renewal and tradition, the menu was shaped by countless tasting sessions at the Academy, a dedicated food development space that champions innovation and creativity at their best.
